Age Verification Laws & Why We Don't Require One Many users ask why Global Warning Networks does not require age verification when they have heard about new laws requiring it on other websites. Here is a plain-language explanation. What Are Age Verification Laws? Starting in 2023, several U.S. states and countries began passing laws requiring websites to verify user ages before granting access. These laws fall into two categories: Adult Content Laws — target sites with substantial sexual or explicit material (e.g., Louisiana Act 440, Texas HB 1181, UK Online Safety Act). Social Media Minor Safety Laws — target social media platforms where minors interact with strangers or create public profiles (e.g., Florida HB 3, Australia's Under-16 Social Media Ban). Jurisdictions Currently Enforcing Age Verification (as of March 2026) Jurisdiction Law / Act Scope Louisiana, USA Act 440 Adult content sites Utah, USA HB 311 Adult content sites Texas, USA HB 1181 Adult content sites Virginia, USA HB 2485 Adult content sites Arkansas, USA Act 244 / SAFE Act Adult content & social media Mississippi, USA SB 2346 Adult content sites Indiana, USA HEA 1111 Adult content sites Alabama, USA SB 209 Adult content sites Kansas, USA SB 394 Adult content sites Kentucky, USA HB 278 Adult content sites Nebraska, USA LB 1092 Adult content sites Oklahoma, USA SB 1335 Adult content sites Maryland, USA SB 1133 Adult content sites Georgia, USA SB 351 Adult content sites Idaho, USA HB 786 Adult content sites South Carolina, USA S.1040 Adult content sites Florida, USA HB 3 Social media platforms (under-16) North Carolina, USA SB 49 Social media minors Tennessee, USA SB 2 Social media minors Colorado, USA SB 24-158 Social media minors United Kingdom Online Safety Act 2023 Adult content & harmful platforms France Loi SREN 2024 Adult content sites Germany JuSchG Adult content sites Australia Online Safety Act / Amendment Adult content & social media (under-16) Canada Bill C-63 (Online Harms Act) Harmful online content / minors European Union Digital Services Act (DSA) Very large platforms only ✅ Why Global Warning Networks Is Exempt Global Warning Networks does not fall under any of these laws for the following reasons: No adult or sexual content — Every law above is triggered by explicit material. This site contains only scientific and informational content about earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis, solar activity, and natural disasters. Not a social media platform — Social media laws target platforms built around user-generated public profiles, followers, messaging, and social feeds. A disaster monitoring site with optional accounts and a newsletter does not meet that definition. No gambling, alcohol, or tobacco — Other common categories that trigger age-gating laws do not apply here. Public-interest informational service — Natural disaster awareness is a civic and safety resource. No jurisdiction has sought to restrict minors from accessing emergency or scientific information of this nature. ✅ Global Warning Networks has no legal obligation to implement age verification under any current U.S. state law, EU regulation, UK law, or international framework. All users of any age are welcome to access this site freely. 13. Contact Information If you have questions about this EULA, please contact us at: 📧 Admin@globalwarningnetworks.com 14.
